Turnover Rekeying
Every cylinder re-pinned so former tenant keys stop working before the new resident moves in.
One locksmith for your entire Oklahoma City rental portfolio. Tenant turnover rekeying, master key systems and common area locks handled across the full OKC metro, on one account and one schedule.
The single provider advantage
Tenant turnover rekeying, reconfiguring lock cylinders between occupants so former tenants' keys no longer work, is a non negotiable step before any new resident moves in.
The failure point is almost never the rekeying itself. It is the coordination.
When you are managing properties in Norman, Edmond, Midwest City and Moore at the same time, running that through separate vendors gets complicated fast. A unit gets missed because one vendor assumed it was somebody else's job. A locksmith who covers your Edmond property will not drive to Moore. C&R handles commercial rekeying between tenant turnovers across the full OKC metro under one account, one schedule and one invoice.
For companies with 10 to 100 or more units across the suburbs, that consolidation saves hours of administrative time every month. It also closes the gap that creates liability at move in, which is the unit nobody rekeyed because the schedule had two owners.
Per HUD rental housing guidance for property managers, securing a unit between tenants is a core landlord responsibility, and it is one that shows up directly in your documentation at move in.
How the account runs
From portfolio assessment through scheduled turnover rekeying to a documented account review, this is how a property management account is serviced across the metro.
Before the first rekey we review the portfolio: how many units, which cities, what hardware is installed, and whether master key systems are already in place or need building. If you are inheriting a portfolio with inconsistent hardware, we flag it up front. Replacing worn cylinders on a schedule costs less than emergency calls when a tenant cannot get in.
You share the vacancy calendar and we schedule the rekeys inside your inspection window, usually the 24 to 72 hour gap between departure and move in. Each unit gets a full rekey, the outgoing key is invalidated, a new key is cut and logged, and the master is tested. Where a portfolio needs restricted keys or keypad and fob access at building entry points, that is handled in the same visit where possible.
Every call generates a record: property address, unit number, date, lock type and key configuration. That feeds your key log and supports your liability file at move in. For high volume accounts, Norman student housing being the standing example where August can run past 20 units in a week, scheduling blocks are booked in advance.
On a portfolio account
Every cylinder re-pinned so former tenant keys stop working before the new resident moves in.
A structured hierarchy where your key opens every unit, tested against each rekeyed lock. See master key systems.
Clubhouses, mailrooms, laundry and parking gate hardware serviced and documented separately from unit locks.
Where unauthorised duplication between tenants is the concern, restricted key systems add a layer the hardware store cannot copy.
Keypad and fob access control on building entrances, fitted alongside the unit work.
Worn cylinders flagged during service so they get replaced on a plan rather than through an emergency call out.
August in Norman, or any month where a building turns over at once. Blocks are reserved ahead so nothing is missed.
A service record per unit, with address, date and configuration, ready to drop into your vacancy inspection file.
Our standards
Every job meets the same quality baseline regardless of which suburb the property sits in.
Every cylinder is re-pinned so former tenant keys are non functional before the new tenant's key is cut.
The master, your access key covering all units, is tested against every rekeyed lock before we leave the property.
Clubhouses, mailrooms, laundry facilities and parking gate hardware are serviced separately from unit locks and documented accordingly.
A service record for each unit rekeyed, including date, property address and lock configuration, ready for your vacancy inspection file.
The same standards apply in Norman as in Edmond. Distance from OKC proper does not change the process or the quality.
We work with what is already installed, including Schlage, Kwikset and commercial grade cylinders, before recommending any replacement.
Send the addresses and the vacancy dates and we will build the schedule around them.
Coverage that matches your map
The Oklahoma City metro's rental housing sits across dozens of distinct zip codes. Edmond's northern growth corridor, Norman's student housing near OU, and the older residential stock in Del City and Midwest City are 20 to 40 miles apart. A management company with units across that spread needs a locksmith whose service area actually matches the map.
C&R Locksmith has operated across the greater Oklahoma City area since 2018. Coverage runs from Guthrie and Edmond in the north through Norman and Moore in the south, and from El Reno in the west to Midwest City in the east. That footprint lines up with where the rental market is growing fastest.
They asked me directly: can you cover all of it? I said yes, and then built the workflow to prove it. Multi unit keying is a system, not a series of individual jobs.
Eran Bar Yamin, founder, C&R Locksmith
From the founder
Early in 2019 a property management company reached out about a recurring problem. They managed around 60 units across three Oklahoma City suburbs. Every time a tenant turned over a unit they called whichever locksmith answered first. Sometimes that locksmith covered their Edmond property but would not drive to Moore. Sometimes a rekeying got skipped because the scheduler assumed another vendor had it.
What they needed was not just a locksmith. It was a recurring service agreement covering scheduled turnover rekeying, emergency lockouts and common area maintenance across the whole portfolio. So we set that up.
Every rekey has to account for the unit key, the master key hierarchy and the common area locks all at once. Get one layer wrong and you are back on site the next day. The managers who run the smoothest operations treat rekeying as a scheduled part of the vacancy inspection rather than a reactive call. That is the system I help them build.

Portfolio questions
Yes. C&R operates as a single provider across the full OKC metro, from Guthrie and Edmond in the north to Norman and Moore in the south, and from El Reno to Midwest City. One account covers every property regardless of which suburb it sits in.
You share your vacancy calendar and we schedule the rekeys to coincide with your inspection window, typically the 24 to 72 hour gap between tenant departure and move in day. For high volume periods like Norman's August student housing turnovers, we reserve scheduling blocks in advance.
Every service call generates a documented record including property address, unit number, date of service, lock type and key configuration. That record feeds your key log and supports your liability documentation at move in.
We work with what is already installed, including Schlage, Kwikset and commercial grade cylinders, before recommending any replacement. If cylinders are worn we flag them so you can replace them on a schedule rather than through emergency calls.
Yes. The master, the property manager's access key covering all units, is tested against every rekeyed lock before we leave the property. If the system needs to expand to cover new units, that is addressed as part of periodic account review.
Tell us the portfolio size, the cities and your current rekeying schedule, and we will outline a plan that fits your vacancy inspection process.
