What this covers
Business Hardware Is a Different Job From Residential
Commercial doors carry heavier traffic, tighter code requirements and more people holding keys. The hardware, the keying plan and the paperwork all have to match that.
When a business cannot open its doors, the cost is measured in hours, not in the price of a lock.
C&R Locksmith handles commercial work across the Oklahoma City metro from a base in Edmond. That includes commercial rekeying, master key systems, access control, panic bar installation, business lockouts and high security lock upgrades.
Rekeying means changing the pins inside an existing cylinder so old keys stop working. The lock stays on the door. It is cheaper than replacement and it is the right call far more often than most people are told, provided the existing hardware can accept it. Checking that is the first thing we do, not the last.
Property managers and owners are usually juggling several vendors already. The point of this service is that one licensed locksmith covers every door on the property, and the same person who quoted the work is the one who shows up to do it.

Every Door on the Property
Commercial Rekeying
Tenant turnover, a departed employee, or keys that were never returned. Whole buildings rekeyed in one visit, keyed alike or on a hierarchy.
RekeyingMaster Key Systems
One key for the manager, a change key per suite, and a separate key for common areas. Designed on paper before a single pin is set.
Master keysHigh Security Locks
Restricted keyways on patented blanks that a hardware store cannot copy without authorisation. The fix when key control keeps failing.
High securityPanic Bars
Exit devices, closers and strikes on the doors an inspector will actually check. Fitted so the latch seats cleanly, not just so the bar bolts on.
Exit devicesAccess Control
Keypads, fobs and card readers for the point where issuing physical keys has stopped making sense. Credentials programmed before handover.
Access controlBusiness Lockouts
Locked out of your own storefront during business hours. We open it without wrecking the door where the hardware allows it.
LockoutsProperty Management
Units across several buildings, handled on one account with one key record instead of a different vendor for every address.
For managersLock Replacement
When cylinders are worn past rekeying or the grade on the door was never right for the traffic it takes. Grade 1 and Grade 2 hardware.

Four Keys Nobody Could Account For
A retail strip in Moore, a tenant who moved out, and a key count that did not add up.
What came in
The property manager called about a small retail strip. A departing tenant had handed back two keys at move out. They had originally been issued six. The other four were unaccounted for, and the common entrance and shared storage room were on the same key.
What the walkthrough found
Before touching anything I walked every door. The storage room had a cylinder from a different manufacturer, fitted by a previous contractor, that would not accept the master hierarchy the manager wanted. Starting work without checking would have meant doing the job twice and billing for it twice.
What got done
We swapped that one cylinder to match, rekeyed all four points, and set up a hierarchy: one master for the manager, a change key per suite, and a separate common area key. Every future tenant now starts clean without rekeying the whole building again.
How the work is done
Standards We Hold On Commercial Jobs
Commercial doors need hardware rated for commercial traffic. Residential grade locks on a business entrance fail early and fail badly.
Hardware grade
ANSI Grade 1 where the door earns it, Grade 2 where it does not. We tell you which one you are getting and why, before the invoice.
Key control
Where duplication keeps happening, restricted keyways on patented blanks stop it. Copies require authorisation instead of a trip to the hardware store.
Cylinder compatibility
Every cylinder in a system gets checked for whether it can be keyed alike or master keyed together. Anything incompatible is flagged and priced before work starts.
Life safety hardware
Exit devices are installed to meet the OSHA exit route requirements and the fire code the inspector will cite. There are no shortcuts on a door people leave through in an emergency.
Tested before we leave
Every master key is cycled through every lock in the hierarchy. Every change key is verified to open only its own door. Electronic credentials are tested for both grant and deny.
A written key record
You get a record of what was rekeyed, which master keys were cut, and how many change keys were issued. Next year that record is what stops the whole guessing game starting again.

Send the address and door count and you get a real number, not a range.
Where we work
Commercial Coverage Across the Metro
Oklahoma City covers an unusual amount of ground for its population, so a locksmith with a five mile radius is not much use when your second location is in Norman. These are the cities we cover regularly.
Commercial questions
What Business Owners Ask First
Can you rekey a whole building in one visit?
Usually yes, provided the cylinders are compatible with each other. Cylinders are repinned on site with a field kit, so no lock leaves the property and the building is never left unsecured partway through. Door count and cylinder type drive the timing, which is why the estimate comes after we know both.
What is the difference between rekeying and a master key system?
Rekeying changes which key opens a lock. A master key system decides who opens what across the whole property: one master for the manager, individual change keys per suite, and a separate key for shared areas. A building with more than two or three entry points is usually better off with a hierarchy, and it is designed on paper first so adding a suite later does not mean starting over. See master key systems.
Do my exit doors have to have panic bars?
It depends on occupancy type and occupant load, which the fire marshal determines, not the locksmith. What we can say is that where an exit device is required, it has to latch and release correctly to pass. A bar that is fitted but does not seat cleanly will fail an inspection just as surely as no bar at all. See panic bar installation.
Are you licensed, and how do I verify it?
Yes. Oklahoma requires locksmiths to be licensed through the Department of Labor under the Alarm, Locksmith and Fire Sprinkler Industry Act, and every locksmith company must employ a licensed locksmith manager. C&R holds license A465149. Ask any commercial locksmith for their number before they are dispatched. See how licensing works in Oklahoma.
What are your hours for commercial calls?
Seven days a week, 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and most metro jobs are handled the same day. Outside those hours emergency response is limited. Call and you will get a straight answer about whether we can reach you tonight or first thing tomorrow, rather than a promise that does not hold.
Do you work with property managers on multiple buildings?
Yes, and it is a large share of the work. One account, one key record across every address, and a manager who does not have to explain the key system from scratch on every call. See property management locksmith services.
