Cheapest Thing That Actually Solves It
Most homeowners who call have been told they need new locks. Most of them do not.
If rekeying will fix your problem, that is what you will be quoted, even though replacing the locks would be worth more to us.
That is the whole difference on residential work. A house that just changed hands, a key that went missing, a spare that was lent out and never came back, all of it is a key problem rather than a lock problem, and rekeying handles it for a fraction of what new hardware costs.
Replacement earns its place when the hardware has genuinely failed, when the grade was never adequate for an exterior door, or when you are upgrading deliberately, such as adding a proper deadbolt or moving to a smart lock.
C&R has been family owned and run out of Edmond since 2018. There is no dispatcher and no technician you have never spoken to turning up with a different number. Estimates are free and the figure quoted on the phone is the figure on the invoice.

Some of what we get called out for is not wear. It is weather, and it is seasonal enough to predict.
Summer Movement
Heat swells doors and shifts frames, particularly on older houses and on west facing doors that take direct afternoon sun. The bolt stops meeting the strike, the door binds, and it looks like a failed lock. Usually it is an alignment job, not a replacement.
Winter Contraction
The same door in January has the opposite problem. Gaps open up, the latch no longer seats firmly, and the door rattles. A strike adjustment fixes it, and doing both adjustments in one visit saves a second call.
Storm Season
Shelter door latches spend most of the year untouched and then have to work on the one day it matters. Checking that latch in February rather than in May is worth the fifteen minutes it takes.

What Gets Asked Most
I just bought a house. What should I do first?
Rekey every exterior door. You have no way of knowing how many keys exist or who holds them, and previous owners, agents, contractors and neighbours are all realistic possibilities. It is inexpensive, it takes one visit, and it is the single highest value thing a new homeowner does. See house rekeying.
Do I need to replace my locks or just rekey them?
Rekey, in most cases. It changes which key works while leaving sound hardware on the door, and it costs considerably less. Replacement makes sense when the lock is worn, damaged, or was never suitable for an exterior door. The honest answer depends on what is actually fitted, which is why the estimate is free.
What are your hours?
Seven days a week, 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Most jobs in the metro are handled the same day. Outside those hours emergency response is limited, and you will be told plainly whether we can reach you that night or first thing the next morning.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Oklahoma requires locksmiths to be licensed through the Department of Labor, and C&R holds license A465149. Ask any locksmith for a number before they come out. Not being able to produce one is the clearest warning sign there is. See how licensing works here.
How much will it cost?
