Terms of Service
The terms covering use of this website, and the basis on which we quote and carry out locksmith work.
Last updated: 01/09/2026
The short version. This website is information, not a contract for work. A job exists once we have quoted it and you have accepted. We will not open a door or make a key without proof that the property or vehicle is yours. Nothing here is legal advice about your building, your codes or your insurance.
About these terms
This website is operated by C&R Locksmith, trading as Commercial & Residential Locksmith, of Edmond, Oklahoma. By using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
The website is information only
The content here describes services we offer and provides general guidance. It does not create a contract, it is not an offer capable of acceptance, and it is not professional advice about your specific property, vehicle or circumstances.
Guides on this site discuss matters such as licensing, building and fire code requirements, hardware standards and vehicle systems in general terms. Requirements differ by property, jurisdiction and vehicle, and they change. Nothing on this website should be relied on as legal advice, code compliance advice or a determination by any authority. Where a fire marshal, building official, insurer or manufacturer has authority over a question, they decide it, not us.
Quotes and how work is agreed
- Estimates are free and are not binding on either party until the work is agreed.
- A quote is based on the information you give us. Where the actual condition on site differs materially from what was described, for example a seized cylinder, a damaged frame or hardware that cannot accept rekeying, we will tell you and give you a revised figure before carrying out additional work.
- Where a trip fee applies beyond a set distance, we will tell you the amount before we travel.
- We may decline any job.
Proof of ownership or authority
We will not open a door, open a vehicle, rekey a lock or produce a key without satisfactory evidence that you own the property or vehicle, live there, or are otherwise authorised. Acceptable evidence typically includes photo identification together with a title, registration, lease, utility bill or confirmation from the owner or manager.
On rental and managed property we act on the authorisation of the owner or the managing agent. A tenant cannot instruct a rekey or authorise entry to a unit they do not own.
If we are not satisfied that you are entitled to access, we will decline the work. A call out charge may still apply where we have travelled to the site.
Availability and timing
Our published hours are 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, seven days a week. Outside those hours our response is limited and no availability is promised. We do not advertise a 24 hour service and you should not rely on one.
Arrival estimates are estimates. Traffic, weather, and the length of the job in front of yours all affect them. Where hardware must be ordered, lead times are outside our control and we will tell you what we have been told by the supplier.
Emergencies involving people or animals
If a person or an animal is shut inside a vehicle or a property, call 911 first. Emergency services are equipped for that situation and will usually reach you sooner. We are not an emergency service and nothing on this website should be treated as one.
The work itself
- We attempt non destructive entry wherever the hardware and its condition allow. Where drilling or other destructive methods become necessary, we will tell you beforehand along with the cost of replacement.
- Existing hardware may be worn, damaged or previously installed incorrectly. We are not responsible for pre existing defects, or for the failure of components we did not supply or install.
- Any manufacturer warranty on hardware we supply is the manufacturer's warranty and is subject to their terms.
- Rekeying changes which key operates a lock. It does not upgrade the lock, the door, the frame or the strike, and we will say so where those are the weakness.
Payment
Payment is due on completion unless we have agreed account terms with you in writing. We accept cash, check and credit card. Where a check is returned unpaid, any bank charges we incur may be added to the balance.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Oklahoma law, our liability arising out of any job is limited to the amount paid for that job. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost business, lost profit, or loss of access, however arising.
We are not liable for the accuracy or completeness of general information published on this website, nor for decisions made in reliance on it without professional advice specific to your situation.
